Chin Contouring

A commonly ignored feature of the face, the chin is a vital structure of the face and influences its appearance much more than most people appreciate. Subtle correction of issues such as a short or retrograde chin, can make a significant impact on the overall appearance of the face.

In aesthetics, we often use the ‘golden ratio’ to define the ideal proportions of the face. According to this ratio, the length and forward-projection of the chin should be in balance with the lips and nose. If the chin is too short or too flat compared to the lips and nose, it will appear ‘weak’.

The chin crease (or ‘mental crease’) is the horizontal crease that forms between the bottom lip and chin.
